If you're as unorganised as me, you most likely wouldn't have finished; or even started, your Christmas shopping yet. You may not even know what to suggest for people buying gifts for you. So I've found a few beauty gifts for UNDER £10 to share with you, that will hopefully help you out!
I used shopstyle.co.uk to find all these gift ideas and decided to add the 'sale' tag, in order to find you some bargains. I absolutely love to use shopstyle to look for presents, as it gathers all products from lots of different stores/brands, and puts them in one place for you. Easy!

You're probably as surprised as I am to see a blog post uploaded by me.
Firstly I've named this #1 because I may do a blog series around this (Let me know your thoughts?).
Secondly, yes I've used a hash tag to mark a number, not to get likes on my instagrams, or retweets on my tweets.

Starting from the beginning (of October), I decided to quit college. After countless mornings, and nights of begrudgingly thinking of and travelling to and from college, to study four subjects I didn't know I wanted to pursue, I looked at my situation; and just said no. Regardless of knowing I "apparently" have a better chance in life if I further my education, I decided to do what makes me happy. College made me far from happy.
At first, I was labelling this time period in my life "An Early Gap Year", and was getting those family members (family members who, in the nicest possible way, like to think their opinion is valid in every situation) off of my back by telling them I'd return in a year. I got a reply of "you won't go back, we've seen it happen before". I then argued "I will, I want to." I've now decided I don't. If it made me super unhappy, like really low unhappy, then what makes me think it will be different next year? I now look at it like this - College isn't the be all and end all!
Personally, I feel like my High School emphasised the whole expectation of going to college, and then Uni thing a bit too much. They never touched on the complete Apprenticeship path, but rather skimmed over this, only 'helping' us on college applications. And that's now what I'm considering - an apprenticeship. I for one don't want to be at home 24/7 or stuck in a job I don't enjoy. In no way have I left my education as the past, with the idea to slack off.
I already hold a part time job, but am suppressing from finding a new full time one, or increasing my usual contracted hours.
Why? Because I want to know what I want to do, what is right for me, and what makes me happy.
I'm so so so sorry for not writing regularly or keeping up to date with the popular beauty and fashion posts. But, the L word's above that banner too y'know (Lifestlyle, not the other one), and I suppose this is what this post will fall under. I pinky promise once I get my inspiration back, I'll bombard you with my shoddy writing.
Thank you for staying with me. And you; do what makes you happy too!

For most of my teenage years, I was one of those girls who was clueless when it came to skin care. "A moisturiser is all you need" I told myself, but little did I know there was more to keeping your skin clean and healthy, especially when it comes to taking your make up off!
I used make up remover wipes ONLY, for a long time before I began using other make up removal products that were so much more beneficial; and I can definitely say my skin feels better for it. I admit... I'm lazy, even more so when it comes to removing make up in the evening. So as a girl who will use anything to save her time and effort, I constantly used my good old Simple Cleansing wipes. I'm not denying that they're good and they definitely do the job, but it's so much better for you skin if you use a toner as well as a cleanser. Using a cleansing wipe DOES NOT get rid of all of your make up, I should know! This means make up is still left behind, even after you think you got it all off from looking at the disgusting mix of colours smudged across the wipe you just used.
So after reading various blog posts on reviews of make up removal products, I decided to try out a whole new routine, and I'm glad I did!
As well as using products that tend to be easier, it's very important to use products that work well against the sensitivity and condition of your skin, as this will make the removal of make up much more pleasant. For example: a cleansing milk is much more suited to skin that is sensitive or irritated, rather than that of a face wash.
At the moment I'm using garnier products to remove my make up. This is the first time I've used them and bought them to try, purely because they were on offer (everyone does that right?) when I went on holiday. I use Kleenex facial cloths with all my make up remover products as they're super good! I literally use one cloth for all three products and that's enough! I managed to bag mine at a 99p store so I'd recommend looking in one before purchasing them from your fave drugstore.
Firstly I use the eye make up remover because I find this is more gentle on the eyes, compared to using a cleanser on them. It's also better at removing products like waterproof mascara and eye liner.
I then use a cleansing milk rather than a face wash, not just because I can't be bothered to go through the process of using a face wash, but mainly because it calms and soothes my skin, leaving it feeling fresh and fully cleansed. I find that most face washes that contain tea tree in some form tend to burn some areas of my face, so prefer to stray from these. After these steps, I use a toner to finally remove any products left on, or in my skin, like foundation or concealer. As well as removing the final bits of hidden product, a toner also evens out skin tone, reduces redness, shrinks and tightens pores, refreshes, and some also act as a moisturiser.
These garnier products are enriched with grape extract which smells really fresh and clean, and leaves your skin feeling like this too! All three products feel really light on the skin, whilst still being able to remove any make up on or in your skin.
These products have definitely improved the condition of my skin, and I notice a difference as soon as I stop using them. I would recommend using this make up removal routine if you don't already, whether you use garnier products or not!
What products do you use to remove your makeup? Do the quick and easy make up remover wipes work best for you?

Today was GCSE results day! Today people were hoping for the grades that would get them into sixth form/college/work/an apprenticeship. Today made me think way past college, which is rare because I couldn't even think about college at all, until a few months ago.
Today has made me think about what I want my life to be like, and what I want from it.
Most of the time, education plays a big role in how good an occupation someone has; how much money they earn, and their quality of life due to this. Sometimes it doesn't. In no way am I disappointed with the grades I achieved, in fact for once I am proud and happy with myself for doing well. But after receiving 11 letters which apparently decide how well I do in life, I'm not thinking about how easily I will get into college or what I'll do when I'm there. I'm now left inquisitive about my future after that; what I can do without those 11 CAPITAL letters, or what I can do with them. (If that makes no sense to you, don't worry about it, I'm not 100% sure of what I'm thinking at the moment either). I currently have no clue of what I want to do with my life, but maybe now I can start figuring that out.
What plans do you have for your life? What would you love to do?

After A LOT of contemplating, I finally ombréd my hair using L'Oreal Wild Ombré kit. I used no.3 which is for blonde to dark blonde hair. Seeing as I naturally have dark blonde hair this was the best match for me. I purchased this kit from Superdrug for £6.63 who currently have a 2 for £11 offer on! I decided against buying two boxes because after a tonne of research, most people had only needed one which I found out myself when using the product.
Inside the kit:
Expert Brush, Lightening Powder, Developer Creme, Lightening Creme, Conditioning shampoo, and Colourist gloves.
Having never put any colourants on my hair before, choosing to ombré my hair myself was a bit of a risk. This is where I found the brush included very helpful. It made the whole thing a lot easier and ensured all of my tips were covered.
What I did:
• Brush hair through so there are no knots at all (I didn't do this on freshly clean hair as I didn't want it to react with any other product).
• Partition hair - clip top layer from temple up.
• Section hair into two, pulling it over shoulders.
• Mix products together and cover brush evenly.
• Apply to the tips of the back strips of hair using the brush vertically.
• Work round to the front of the hair (I dyed further up on some bits compared to others to make it look more natural and for it to blend in better).
• Leave for 20-45 minutes depending on desired intensity.
• Clean part of hair with gloved fingers to see colour.
• When happy with colour, rinse with warm water.
• Apply 1/4 conditioner and wash thoroughly. Use another 1/4 and rinse.
| This really sin't the best picture, but is the only one where the light wasn't making it look like it hadn't been ombred! |
My Top Tips: Begin applying the dye to the very ends of your tips and work your way up the sections of hair you want to dye. This will ensure the ends are the lightest and will make the change in hair colour gradual as the hair nearer the top won't be as blonde as the ends. If you have a side fringe, add a tiny bit of product to the tips to make it blend with the rest of your hair. REMEMBER to use an old towel because I ruined Mum's! Oops!
*This post isn't sponsored by L'Oreal or Superdug. It is entirely my own, honest opinion of the product and my choice to write about it.

You may have already guessed that I've been super busy this month as I haven't posted at all, until today! Everything that I was looking forward to this year has been in July and so I haven't been able to find the time to come on here and start typing about whatever. I thought that after finishing my GCSE exams and assessments I'd post so much more, but it's turned out that I'm posting less! Starting today I promise to try and get back to my old routine of posting more often.
If you're a bit nosey like me I'm sure you'll want to know what's made my July the best, and busiest month of my year so far!
So the first thing that happened this month was an introductory day at the College I have applied for, which gave me a chance to look around and make a definite decision.
....3 days after, prom happened!!! Prom was soooo good and I'd quite happily do it every single year if I could! Everyone looked amazing and had a great night!
The Monday after prom, I went on Holiday to Cornwall with my family, and stayed in the UK's surf Capital, Newquay! We visited 2 out of the 100's of bays and coves in Cornwall whilst the weather was great, shopped lots, ate too much, and had a great holiday!
On Sunday 14th July, my Mum, Auntie, Cousins, Brother, and I all took part in Race for life again. Like last year, the atmosphere was amazing and everyone was there for the same reason - to work towards beating Cancer. Participants were either cancer sufferers, family members to those with Cancer, or people who had no relation to the disease, but wanted to help! In no way do I want you to feel obliged to help us fundraise, but if you wanted to donate some money to Race for Life, for Cancer Research UK and support my family and I, you can do so at http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/deniseandchloe
If you haven't seen the post about Race for Life I wrote in April, you can read that here.
Sorry, this has been a long one, but hopefully you now know what I've been up to in the last few weeks, and why I haven't been posting as much as usual!
Thanks for bearing with me!

I honestly read a lot more blog posts than I do write them and sometimes I get that mental block and don't have one idea on what to write about next. Because of this I love reading blogs that people have been tagged to do as they are always a great thing to do as well. It's even better when a blogger tags EVERYONE to try it too just like Vicky did a while ago!
The Rules:
1. Thank the tagger and link them in the post.
2. State that this tag was created by The Beau Bow
3. Copy and paste the rules.
4. Tag some more beauty bloggers and link them to the post.
5. Title this The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Post so bloggers know what the post is about.
6. Have fun :)
Name a beauty regime that you rarely do.
MOISTURISE. Before, my skin was soft and felt fine but now it's starting to get dry so not moisturising is becoming a VERY VERY VERY bad habit.
Is washing your make-up brushes something you do regularly?
Girls, you're gonna hate me for this.. but no. It takes me a while to get around to cleaning my brushes. When I begin to notice that they're not doing the greatest job any more then I'll clean them. I'm not going to lie though, it's one of those jobs I put off even though I shouldn't. Naughty me!
How long will you last with chipped nail polish?
A few days as long as I'm not going anywhere special. If I am going out and have chipped nail polish I'd prefer to go with bare nails than with chipped. For some reason, having chipped nail polish when I have French Manicure painted nails bugs me more than when I have one colour only, so if that's chipped it probably won't last a day.
How long do you put off buying/replacing a beauty or nail polish product even if you need it (i.e. purchasing a new top coat, foundation etc)?
Things like top coats and nail products don't bother me that much when they need replacing so I don't have a great urge to re-purchase them ASAP. When Make-up products need replacing though I will re-purchase them as soon as I can, especially concealer or mascara!
What is your worst beauty habit?
Persuading myself some nights that I'm too tired to take my make up off! Don't worry though. I pay for it in the morning when I feel like a complete tramp, eww. I also hardly ever stick to a skin care routine like moisturising. I sound so lazy... But I have began to get better at this though (providing I keep it up).
Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time?
(*Most of the time) Revision. I get round to it in the end but then end up leaving myself with too little time. And also tidying my room. I know that if I do it as soon as there's a bit of mess it will never get as bad as it does (I should do, Mum tells me enough times), but somehow when it gets messy I tend to ignore this and leave it until I need to spend hours tidying. Urgh.
When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready until the last minute or not?
I used to EVERY SINGLE TIME, but my time management's got a lot better this year. I spend so long in the shower and as well as annoying the hell out of my family it uses up a lot of 'getting ready time'. If I time my shower right I leave enough time to get ready and don't end up late, although somehow I ALWAYS end up arriving late wherever I'm meant to be. Time schedules suck!
Can you commit to spending bans?
I wouldn't say I have spending bans. I'm very good at spending money wisely and often save up for something 'big' and long lasting rather than continuously spending it on 'little things'. Compared to my brother I'm a saint when it comes to money, I even pay off his debts for him! (Best sister badge over here please?)
How organised is your make-up and nail collection?
At the moment it's very organised, more so my make-up. Before, it was a complete mess and not being very good at tidying it took me a while to get round to sorting it out. If you want a cheap and quick way to organize your collection I used old glossy boxes to categorize products and it worked really well! It's so much more easier when it's organised too and that helps me keep it as it is now.
What is the longest amount of time you have gone without writing a blog post?
I'm terrible at posting regularly. As I'm still a newbie I haven't posted much at all, but the longest, at the moment, is just over a month. I'd love your input on posts you'd like to see me write and when I have many to write I'm "hoping" to schedule them weekly.
I really think this tag is a great one to do! After writing this down I can see what I need to start doing (a lot) and will try and start as soon as possible. Like Vicky, I tag everyone to do this post.

| Me when I was about 5 or 6! (Sorry about the quality.. it's one of those photo's of a photo) (this wasn't actually originally taken in 2008) |
- I was born on the 30th of September 1996 but was meant to enter the world on the 18th.
- I have a weird obsession with mugs, duvet covers, and candles. I like mugs and end up buying lots when I have no room or no need for even 1 more.
- I have never been on a bus.
- My favourite type of food is Italian... or Chinese.
- I am starting college this year and I'm taking Photography, Media, Textiles, and Sociology.
- My mood can change instantly (this is definitely not a good thing!).
- I've only been abroad once (to Portugal) when I was very young.
- I've only had one operation in my life which was when I had my tonsils removed.
- My favourite colour is purple.
- I'm always late. I was born late so I'll just blame it on that.
- I have a scar on my forehead from when I ran into the side of an open door and cut my head open. Yes, that isn't a mistake...it was actually open.
- I am one of the most clumsiest people you will meet. I have ruined the following by repeatedly knocking over the bottle of nailpolish remover: the freezer, the dashboard in the car, the dining table, the coffee table, the carpet, and the bathroom cabinet. I constantly spill drinks everywhere. I drop everything and seem to trip over nothing. I fell out of my back door and ended up with my elbow in a cast for a few weeks.
- My favourite film is The Holiday. I love most Cameron Diaz films in fact.
- If I find a new song I like, I will play it 24/7 until it annoys me and I no longer like it as much.
- I've only ever had one pet which is the one I have now - a cat called Oscar.
- My favourite thing to watch on TV is Hollyoaks.
- I prefer to watch Youtube videos than I do TV most of the time.
- I have a brother called George who is 5 years younger than me.
- I love to cook!
- I laugh most of the time and will find the unfunniest things funny!
- I won an award for the young volunteer of the year when I was 11.
- The first concert I ever went to was Peter Andre.
- I get addicted to things very easily.
- I drink green tea instead of normal tea.
- Going to the Paralympics in London last year was probably one of the best days of my life.

It's monday here on A Girl Behind a Lens and you know what that means... (hands up if you read that as if you were Daily Grace).
This Monday, the sun's out, you probably won't be at work or school, and so you're day is probably already going great! In my eyes everyone begins to become much happier when summer's approaching, the weathers warm, and we have time to spend with the people closest to us. But, we can't let our happiness ONLY be down to the sun, and the season. We have control of how we feel. Sometimes it might not feel like we do, but believe me we can make a difference to how we feel, whether the sun's out regardless.
Having done more than half my exams now and only having to go to school for relevant subjects starting June, I am feeling very HAPPY lately and I hope all of you are too, whatever you're doing. I'm someone who believes the smallest change can contribute to our happiness. If you're not feeling as good as you have previously, do something about it!

(This is ridiculously late...sorry!)
It's not every month I try new products and like them enough to put together a Loves of Last month post, but in April I began using some products that I absolutely love now and so as we're only just in May I thought
I'd share them with you!
So.. The first product I purchased very early on in April was the MUA Undressed Eyeshadow Palette which I have been using on a daily basis recently. It is an exact dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Palette and even though the £4 price tag may make you think there's no way on earth they're going to have good pay off, the MUA palette actually contains pigmented, good quality shadows, which are by far great value for the money you would have spent on it!
In April I also purchased the Real techniques Core Collection from Amazon at a great reduced price. At the time, the Core Collection cost me around £14 so I couldn't pass up the chance to get myself on the Real Techniques bandwagon. The collection brushes are still at a discounted price, but the discount isn't as big as it was when I made this cheeky little purchase at the beginning of last month. Before, I was using Fearne Cotton's brushes and although they used to be my go to brushes and were covered in a pretty floral pattern, these have been pushed to one side. The Core Collection kit works wonders on perfecting the base for any look and I highly recommend them, knowing I will be investing in the other kits and single brushes very soon!
If you want to check these out get over here now.
Last Month was the month when I began making more of an effort with my nails and really got into using pretty pastel shades to complement my winter to spring outfits. After seeing millions of posts (this is definitely an exaggeration, I didn't actually sit reading a million blog posts) on the Barry m Gelly Hi-shine nail polishes I had to get myself one to try out too! I chose Prickly Pear which is a lovely shade of lilac, and loved using it last month.
There have been two main hair products I have used A LOT, which I only really started using in April after purchasing them months ago. The first one is the Tresemme 24 hour body blow dry lotion. I apply this to the roots of wet hair, and then blow dry it using a round brush. I find that this product gives my hair more volume at the roots of my hair which is where I need it most. I have naturally thick hair but I only really get great volume at the bottom of it. I've loved using this spray in the previous month and have found it great for balancing my natural volume out and giving my hair more of it at the top.
The second hair product is also a spray. It is the Trevor Sorbie protect, flatten & shine spray. Last year I used to straighten my hair everyday using the Vo5 heat protector spray, and even though I made sure to protect it against any heat, it wasn't ever going to do my hair a great deal of good. So earlier this year I learnt to embrace my natural hair (wavy to curly) and stopped straightening my hair like I did before. It was only until last month that I began to get my straighteners out again, promising myself not to go back to my every day heat required period of time. I thought I'd try out the Trevor Sorbie protect, flatten & shine s
pray as it's been hidden away since I purchased it in January this year, and overall I've been really impressed with it. Usually I find that heat protector sprays have quite a strong and harsh scent but this one smells really nice and leaves my hair smelling fresh throughout the day. As it is also specifically for use when straightening hair, it also helps me in doing this and leaves me not needing to set my straighteners on such a high temperature. I really like this heat protector spray and favour it over any other I've previously tried.

I have naturally thick hair but I only really get great volume at the bottom of it. I've loved using this spray in the previous month and have found it great for balancing my natural volume out and giving my hair more of it at the top.
pray as it's been hidden away since I purchased it in January this year, and overall I've been really impressed with it.
What have you been loving during the previous month? Have you tried any of the products mentioned in this post?

This month Glossybox became 2 and I was quick to realise it would be a good idea to re-join in, in all the action. It was a smart move, because today I received May's Birthday Edition box and it's a good 'un! Not only did Glossybox give everyone an extra gift of a little pack of mini nail files, but I was also given more than one full sized product!
This month the box was tied with a neon pink ribbon, wrapped in beauty/birthday tissue paper and sealed with a number 2 sticker. Inside my box were three full sized products, 2 product samples, as well as the extra Glossybox gift.
The first full sized product is a Headline Colors nail polish. In the leaflet inside the Glossybox, the shade I received (Twisted Silk) is pictured as part of the Spring/Summer Collection, however online, it's shown in the Autumn/Winter collection. Anyway, whichever collection the polish comes from, after quickly testing it out, I found it to have great application and a glossy finish. The Twisted Silk colour is a very pale, girly pink which would work great with a tan this summer. It also says they're limited edition so you can check them out over here if you're interested!
The next full sized product is a Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes mascara. It's part of the One Swipe and Go collection and usually retails for £15! You can find this over on their website here.
I was also sent a Caudalie Divine Oil which can be used as a massage or bath oil, or
for your hair, face, or nails. In the leaflet it says "...its unique blend of grape, hibiscus, sesame and argan oils are immediately absorbed into the skin with a non-greasy finish...". This costs £4.05 for 15ml and can be found here.
The two sample sized products are from Beautiful Movements Cosmetics and L'Occitane. Previously you may have been given a BM Beauty loose powder like I did. BM Beauty is now known as Beautiful Moments Cosmetics and this time in the box we were sent a Prime & Create Mixing Medium. This is a new launch and is a clear aloe vera based gel. It can be mixed with any powder to create a cream based product or used as a primer to achieve a matte, shine-free base. I also received a L'Occitaine en Provence Angelica Hydration cream for face and neck use, which is stored in a small pot, ideal for handbags!
I really like this month's box and the added bonus of more full sized products was great!
Are you subscribed to any beauty boxes? What did you get in yours this month?

This post has been a long time coming!
I'm not afraid to admit I've abandoned my 'Merry Monday' posts over the last couple of months and I really don't know why!
Amongst all my posts, 'Merry Monday's' receive the most comments and seem to be one of the most popular posts with my lovely readers (yes, if you're reading this that's you included)! So like always, someone's been looking at some quotes again!

How's your Monday been? It's not all that bad , is it?

I first saw this tag on Fleur's YouTube and as Spring is one of my favourite seasons, I thought I'd do it too!
I think that probably most people favour Summer when it comes to Seasons and if not, the other general answer is the complete opposite - Winter. Well.... Not me. I'm the awkward one who likes, what I call, the in betweens. My favourite Seasons are Spring and Autumn, and although it's a very close call between the two, Spring probably just tops it.
1. Favorite spring nail polish?
Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Prickly Pear. I love purples/lilacs so fell in love with this nail polish when it first came out. It's a really pretty lilac pastel colour and looks super shiny, just like gel nails!
2. What is your must-have lip color this spring?
I really like peachy and coral lipsticks for spring! At the moment I'm wearing MUA Nectar which is super cheap and a beautiful coral colour to brighten up any outfit.
I've always liked Lillies but this Spring I really like daisies. They're just really simple and dainty and also look good on headbands and spring/summer accessories.
5. Favourite spring scarf/accessory?
I bought this scarf when I had a holiday in the Isle of Wight. It has dragonflies and little insects on and is a really gorgeous pink colour. I love it too because it's quite a big scarf and sometimes the really pretty chiffon scarfs are quite small and don't drape down very far when you wear it.
7. Favourite spring candle?
I don't really have one to be honest. I do have a Lavender Wishing Candle though, which smells lovely. I don't usually light candles that much but if I do they're normally floral scented (rose) or sweet scents (vanilla).
8. Favourite body spray/perfume for spring?
8. Favourite body spray/perfume for spring?
I'm really loving the new eau de parfum for her by Lacoste - Eau De Lacoste. I tend to wear this more often when I'm going out for the night, rather than an everyday perfume though. I also found FCUK pure bodyspray which I completely forgot about until recently. It smells very floral and is a really nice, light scent to wear during the day, especially during Spring.
9. What is spring like where you live?
9. What is spring like where you live?
I live quite near a woods which looks lovely during Spring. If we go for walks or bike rides down there around this time everything seems to have more life to it. There's also a lot of birds around at the moment which we can hear nearly all the time now.
10. What's your favourite thing about spring?
Everyone begins getting that little bit happier because winter's passed. Flowers and trees blossom which makes the whole place look so much more brighter and happier too! I also like it after Fashion Week when all the new Spring/Summer trends are coming out and everyone gets excited over them - Spring clothes are so pretty. My top fave Spring thing (that sounded good!) has definitely got to be anything to do with florals though!

11. Are you a spring cleaner?
I leave that to Mum, although I will sometimes de-clutter and organise my make-up (just so I can say I've done something too!).

12. Any plans for spring break or an upcoming vacation? Spring break with all my revision? You must be joking! I never go away in Spring, my family and I tend to go away for a week in the Summer which we'll more than likely do this year.
This was a really nice tag to do and I tag everyone to do it. If you do, leave me a link below and I'll take a look at them all!
